I just got back from a test drive of a P85+ Model S, and I am totally blown away. I have never before experienced a car that has so few compromises. Basically everything you have heard about the Tesla is true, so I'll give a very short review.

Kinja'd!!!

We started out on some surface streets with the Model S set in comfort mode, and it was the perfect big luxury barge. I felt very insulated from the outside world, the interior was an incredibly nice place to be, and there was this prevailing eerie quiet from the car the whole time.

We then went onto the highway where I was quickly instructed to "floor it". The Michelin Primacy tires let go for a moment (A feeling I am quite used to from my FR-S) before the traction control very gracefully (and I mean almost imperceptibly) pulled a bit of power. On the highway there is still a feeling of uncompromising luxury, bumps are ironed almost entirely smooth and there is still a strange eerie quiet. If I have one complaint it is the lack of speed feedback, I can tell you that the Tesla feels exactly the same at 95mph as it does at 55mph. We took a series of off ramps and on ramps so I could play with the acceleration a bit more, I've never felt anything like it (besides my Honda Fireblade). Intoxicating.

We then turned off of the highway and took a few back-roads. Up until this point, the Model S had been quite impressive, but not massively better than the XJR I drove a few years back. Well, in the bends is where the Tesla surprised me most of all. It really does not feel like a 4500lb car. I got a bit "playful" with a C6 Corvette who was driving rather spiritedly on the back-roads we took back the the showroom and kept pace with it easily. It really is amazing how tossable the model S is.

Honestly I cannot really find any faults in the car, and when they start hitting the used market I'll certainly be watching closely.

I test drove the P85+ a couple of months back and felt the exact same way.

And I'm a die-hard stick-shift fan. But this...

THIS.

Yeah, basically went in a skeptic and left a believer. I'll be watching the release of the Model E very closely and I fully expect the performance trim to be an M3/4 killer

My dad is pretty serious about getting one, though it would be the 85 model.
